Sustainability of Our School Business

Our business Fab Retreat which is going great lately thanks to the fact that we are always improving ourselves. All of the credit goes to us being sustainable with our growth, which was all due to us keeping a detailed record of our purchases and sales and also to maintain the business we distribute weekly and monthly targets that we need to achieve which has always kept us on our toes and this
is something that will ensure our success.

Our main development in Business since beginning
After our first sale we had a lot of raw and processed products available in our stock so we
dismantled our processed products and coupled with raw products made a huge bump in profit
paying off everyone’s initial investment.

In the words of our Editorial head, Cheshta,
“Working with SEC has given me opportunities to write
various articles which in turn has led to a marked improvement
in my writing skills. This not only helped me to achieve good marks
but also win awards in literary competition.”

In the words of our Planning head, Aditi,

“The experience gained with SEC while organizing
all the events and working to create
various products has not only lend  a helping hand
for me in competitions but also at maintaining my work
in class.”

In the words of our Treasurer, Isha,
“Happiness of those ladies while getting the charity from us is my favorite memory.
This has built a light of social service with us.”

What are the measures?
All of us (Students) are constantly working on discovering new products which require
minimum investment but the final product is able to give decent revenue to our sales.
  • We communicate daily in School as well as at Home
  • We update our ideas to each other on daily bases for new products through the
  • whatsapp group.
  • We use cloud software (google sheets, docs) to keep a document of our progress
  • We regularly communicate with our in charge (Ms. Rashi)  for guidance and support
  • Due to our constant communication we have been able to complete our targets
  • Products for our sale are made well in advance to avoid last minute panic and give us time to improve on our products as well. And moreover maximize our profit in our next sale.

What are our future plans?

Our future plans include putting up exhibition in malls in the nearby locality.

we are looking forward to exhibit our stuff in the school’s biggest event i.e. The Christmas Carnival.

We will be diversifying in the coming future by including durable eatables.

How are we tackling the problem to keep the business sustainable?

  • Our daily communication helped us get comfortable with each other and is our greatest strength after all
  • Our maintained accounts and consistent guidance from teachers have helped us throughout the hurdles we have faced.
  • We are reusing  the old clothes which gives us immense satisfaction that we aren’t destroying our nature.
  • Providing charity to the ladies is also the basic principle we are so successful in our business as well said by our Cultural head, Khushi “Give happiness today and you’ll get it in return tomorrow.”

  • Being inspired by J.J. Clincton’s words,
Lucky people get opportunities, brave people create opportunities and winners are those who convert problems into opportunities

we are converting our problems into opportunities each day.

Profitability of the School Business

School Entrepreneurship challenge is becoming an enriching journey for the students of MAPS who have been exploring the various aspects of entrepreneurship.
Our Efforts are to sow the seed of entrepreneurship in the young minds and to prepare a threshold to establish the kingdom of entrepreneurship

Students in the past months have experienced immense pressure especially to meet deadlines which have helped them gain experience to become a real entrepreneur. They have learned coordination, planning, execution and teamwork which comprehends all their skills.

FAB RETREAT has become a huge success in our school. It has gained popularity due to the quality of our products, fair and competitive pricing.

Zeal to earn has become a great passion for the team members. Besides that, the team is shouldering the responsibility to use the profits for Social works like (Providing Free Gifts During Diwali Time, Birthday Celebration of underprivileged children, etc.) this act of kindness enables us to move forward into the future.

Financial Update !
We are proud to tell that we have earned about Rs 25,000 revenue and earned a Net Profit of around Rs 10,000 as of October 2017.

All of this profit has been possible by doing a lot of cost-cutting. We made the stuff on our own which was feasible like notebooks and used to always but in bulk to save on our purchases as well.

Soaring High has increased our confidence and giving motivation and confidence to get more profit to use it for a social cause.

Competitions like SEC have encouraged students to join hands together and lead to success.

Our motive is to earn profit to bring smiles to the soar faces in our society. We have planned to connect our project with the central government of INDIA programme which is "Start-Up INDIA"
through this scheme, we will be to utilize our government policies which will help us to reach higher authorities quickly and also gathering a lot of Investor Attention which periodically can help us in introducing new products, investing more on capital, etc.

STUDENT MOTIVATION

Great things in enterprises are never done by one person; they’re done by a team of people. We may have all the expertise in the world but, if they are not motivated, it is unlikely to achieve our true potential. So our team has a united vision of making this project/initiative a success. This keeps us on the right track of positive outlook and makes them excited about what they are doing, and they know that they are investing their time in something that's truly worthwhile. Team-based creative problem solving, the interactions between mutually respectful students, and the thrill of succeeding together are a great source of motivation.

So we have a collection of motivational words to keep reminding ourselves of our goals-
1. "For every dark night there is a brighter day."
Our team believes that for every setback we have to face, we would have a better comeback. As believed, every dark night is passed by a beautiful morning we have accepted the beauty of
pessimism in an optimistic way.

2. "Impossible is a word to be found only in the dictionary of fools."
The team remains focused throughout and hence overpowered the problems in the pathway by
collective efforts, mutual respect of opinions and valuing each other’s ideas.

3. “Believe in your actions.”

For every initiative we take, for every time utilized, we believe in our actions. We believe in the worth of this project and our potentials. Hence, it leads to us that we are today.

Her finger runs deftly through the wheels of the sewing machine as she stitches out beautiful piece of clothing. Her hands that were once withered due to object poverty have new acquired a skill that she strives to master. It is not surprising to find out how Sangini sewing Centre changes the lives of women like Sunita, Ankita, Kavita and more. It is a place where women like her breaking the shackles of poverty, learn new skill and new trades-the key to financial independence. “Until a year ago, I could hardly make both ends meet with a meager income of rupees 4500 a month by providing domestic service. Sangini swing Centre has totally changed my life. The social status my job brings with it is even more rewarding than the income of rupee 12000 I make now,” she says.

Our school runs a project named SANGINI which empowers underprivileged women and girls to learn stitching and tailoring in order to make them independent and raise their standards of living. This sewing centre acts as a resource centre for FAB RETREAT and also provides tailoring classes to the members of the School Enterprise Challenge.

We believe in getting as much use as possible from everything and think that as long as machinery, or anything else, could be cajoled into operation, it should be kept; to do otherwise it is wasteful.

DON'T TELL PEOPLE YOUR DREAMS, SHOW THEM!

We, the students of Maharaja Agarsain Public School, got the golden opportunity to engage ourselves in a real life business project under The School Enterprise Challenge, run by Teach A Man To Fish, a global business start-up Awards Program for schools around the world.

Learning objectives include:

  1. Strategic thinking
  2. Decision making
  3. Problem solving
  4. Financial analysis
  5. Market analysis
  6. Operations
  7. Teamwork
  8. Leadership.

The business plan is a tool designed to help you find and explore opportunities. It also provides you with a way to analyze potential opportunities continuously.
What we do is making and selling craft items like cushion covers, table cloth, rugs etc. made from used clothes.

To stay motivated and tuned, we realize our goals every day. We boost ourselves by ensuring a healthy competition with other teams. While much motivation is intrinsic to the students, teachers also play a vital role in the motivation and engagement of their students. A significant portion of student engagement and achievement are explained by our mentors.
The steps taken by our team to remain on track are-

•        Communication - Honest, frequent two-way communication between students and mentors including constructive discussion of workplace issues is ensure.

•        Challenging and exciting work – we ensure every student has a plan which is respected. We incorporate students in work where they enjoy and do not feel like burdening themselves.

•        Recognition and reward for performance – we make it clear what the incentives are and rewarded fairly across all the students to see the benefits of efforts.

Our First exhibition: the beginning

We now may be in for a real challenge when we decide to take the plunge and become a business owner. The stage is often set in the beginning.

Festivals are time to celebrate, rekindle family traditions and also reasons to shop!

On the festival, the sister ties a thread (rakhi) to her brother's wrist. In return, he promises to shield her from troubles and be by her side always. And let's not forget, the lovely gifts.
Therefore,
celebrating rakshabandhan, selling the items prepared by us to the students, their parents and school staff members, we made the best use of the opportunity and turned the event out as a great success.

The entrepreneurs are not just running the business with the motive only to earn profit but to help Planet Earth by recycling, reducing and reusing.

Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality.

After the success of the first exhibition by the MAPS young entreprenurial team, they geared up themselves for the next step.
The above pictures clearly show the efforts of these children in making crafts for Diwali exhibition such as diyas, bottles, etc.

Diwali Exhibition Invitation

“It’s not just about ideas, its about making ideas happen”

Believe you can and you're halfway there!

A platform for us to Outperform!

With great zeal and enthusiasm we, the young entrepreneurs of Maharaja Agarsian Public School started their journey a few months ago. With faith in their minds and the motive of charity for all, these empowered minds are striving hard to accomplish their goals.

Our motto is building next generation leaders and inculcating marketing skills in children, especially girls so that they need not depend upon anyone for earning their living.
Also we all working under the School Enterprise Challenge work not only with the motive of earning profit but also to help the Planet earth by recycling and reusing waste materials.
Not only this, SEC has helped raise our self confidence and made us independent to face any situation in our lives.

On October 7, 2017, the team Fab-Retreat organized a handicraft sale on the occasion of Diwali to exhibit their hard work, within the school premises. This event took the spirit of best out of waste to a next level. The industrious hands created elegant handicrafts out of all the used stuff. The usually categorized worthless things got their worth back when the students turned them into beautiful articles. The articles prepared by the students included lamps, candle-stands, floating diyas, rubber bands, notebooks and eco-friendly bags. This project indulged both Students and parents. It was a creative way to make stronger home-school partnership bonds. The appealing articles caught everyone’s eyes and were appreciated by all. Parents gave their precious feedback for us to get better. The project concluded with immense satisfaction and pleasure.

Diwali is a festival of sweet childhood memories
A sky full of lights
Mouth full of sweets and heart full of joy

On this ocassion of lights and sparkle where the atmosphere is filled with a spirit of mirth and love the members of The School Enterprise Challenge gifted beautiful handmade Diyas as a token of love and respect to the helping staff of the school.

Even after constantly motivating each individual, sometimes the team is equipped with the thoughts of hitting the rock bottom. This is usually when there is a drastic comeback of our studies. This definitely leads to the motivation among us and each other. . So to overcome dropdowns, our team mutually decides to change our schedules and plans. We work collaboratively in discussing the changes which should be made so as to not face the setbacks again. We take ideas from our past experiences and thus initiate new ideas and plans.

Coming together is a beginning,
keeping together is progress,
working together is success!!!
